Direct flight. Upon arrival, our guide will be waiting for us to take us to the hotel, where he will give us a brief presentation of the trip.
After settling in our rooms, we will enjoy our first guided excursion, in the surroundings of Vágar. We will visit
Múlafossur (the scenic waterfall that falls directly into the sea) and the villages of Bøur and Gásadalur, which show us a picturesque traditional Faroese image.
Accommodation at Hotel Vágar or similar (2 nights).
Transfer to Sørvágur to take the ferry to Mykines where we will trek to the lighthouse at Mykinesislet, a place of beautiful nature known for its rich population of birds.
Here you can see puffins and gannets. For the trekking a good condition is required. After about 6 hours in Mykines you return by ferry to Sørvágur and to the hotel.
The day begins with an easy trekking of approx. 2:30h in total to the cliffs of Trælanípa, where you can see the famous point where an optical effect is produced with Lake Sørvágsvatn and the sea at 2 different levels.
Not far from here we walk to the viewpoint of the well-known Trøllkonufingur (witch’s finger), a curious rock next to the wild Atlantic coast.
Then, on the way to the capital Tórshavn, you pass through the first Faroese underwater tunnel, with the deepest point at 105 meters below sea level.
Arrival in Tórshavn, the smallest capital in the world, where upon arrival there is a panoramic tour of the capital. On this tour we will be able to see the most important places in the city, its history and architecture as well as the old part of Reyni, the parliament in Tinganes and Skansin.
Accommodation at Hotel Brandan (5 nights)
Today there is a panoramic tour of the islands of Kunoy, Borðoy and Viðoy, islands with small villages dominated by high mountains with precipices. The northernmost town, Viðareiði, is also visited. On the island of Kunoy we visit a small forest, unique in the islands, where trees are not abundant! In the afternoon, the vehicle goes up to Mount Klakkur.
The views from the parking lot are already spectacular, but if you are in good shape you can reach the highest part with the guide to contemplate the best views (approx. 1:30 total).
In Vestmanna there is a 2-hour boat trip to the high cliffs of Vestmannabjørgini. You navigate through narrow passes and caves, next to 600 meter high cliffs where birds such as puffins, guillemots, fulmars and kittiwakes nest every summer.
After lunch, the route continues with a visit to the Viking settlements in Kvívík. From here, we continue to the picturesque village of Saksun, surrounded by high mountains and a lake with a sandy beach that leads to the Atlantic Ocean at its outlet.
After taking in the views over Funningur, perhaps the best from a road on all the islands, we reached the beautiful village of Gjógv. Here we make a small hiking trail of approx. 1 hour to some nearby cliffs.
Next, the rock formations in the sea known as “The Giant and the Witch”, in Faroese, Risin og Kellingin, are observed from a viewpoint. You cross the “Atlantic Bridge” to reach Tjørnuvík, passing the Fossá waterfall (140m), the highest in the Faroe Islands.
In Tjørnuvík we will walk along its beautiful beach.
