Itinerary

If you are staying in Reykjavík, the tour can start right there. We pick you up and head to the first stop on the itinerary: Seljalandsfoss, the most visited waterfall in Iceland. You will be able to see it up close and even walk around and take the best pictures.

Then we will continue to the Skógafoss waterfall until we reach Hekla, a volcano that has been active throughout the year. This volcano, due to its intense activity, was known in the Middle Ages as “the door to hell”. But this is not the only volcano that we will be able to see on the private tour. Also, while we walk the golden circle, we will approach the Eyjafjallajökull volcano.

The next stop is a very different beach from the ones you will have seen so far. Its sand is black and fine, and on the shore, anchored to a rock, are hexagonal basalt pillars. Afterwards, we will go to Vík í Myrdal where some strange rock formations called Reynisdrangar await us.

We will continue advancing to our final destination, the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. Meanwhile, in the last section of the journey we can find deserts, lava fields, cliffs and glaciers.

Finally, once we are in Jökulsárlón we will have before us one of the most beautiful views of Iceland and one of the most amazing spectacles: the movement of icebergs from the great glacier to the Atlantic Ocean. You will be able to see icebergs of all colors, sizes and shapes.

In addition, there we can do some small hiking trails to see the lagoon from different perspectives.

About the trip

You can visit the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon at any time of the year. However, depending on the weather and other factors that will depend on the seasonality, it may be more or less appropriate to visit it. We will recommend when to do it and we will do the excursion only when it is safe.

The weather can be unpredictable especially in spring and fall. Always bring comfortable clothes and different layers of coat. Preferably the clothing is soft and breathable and the outer layers waterproof and windproof. As for footwear, the most recommended are wellington boots with a good grip.

Depending on the weather, the situation and activity of the volcanoes or the state of the roads and others, it is possible that we make some changes in the itinerary in order to guarantee the safety of the tour.
