Itinerary
Our itinerary begins at your hotel, we pick you up and embark on a journey through the road from which we can see two of the most famous volcanoes on the island, Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull. The first was known in the Middle Ages as “the gate of hell” for its violence and incessant activity. You may remember the second from its 2010 eruption.
After this very special tour with panoramic views of two of the most famous volcanoes, we will make a pleasant stop at the Seljalandsfoss waterfall. The view is spectacular but even more if you dare to see it from different points. Therefore, we always recommend a walk around to take the best pictures. It is also an ideal place to rest and have a drink.
The next stop is Þórsmörk, which is Icelandic for “Valley of Thor”. This beautiful valley is surrounded by glaciers and mountains, including Gígjökull, a glacier tongue. There you can also get closer to the Eyjafjallajökull volcano that you saw from the vehicle and which is actually a volcano-glacier.
The Stakkholtsgjá canyon is the next stop. The cliffs of this impressive canyon rise 100 meters (328 feet) above the ground. Oh, it’s also a place of worship for Game of Thrones fans, as some of the most famous images were recorded there.
We will use our vehicle to continue deeper into the Valley of Thor and reach some perfect areas for hiking and walking along frozen rivers, glaciers, mountains and the great Nauthúsagil ravine that has one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland. A tour through one of the lava fields may also be available.
